Is this the missing link to improving your health?

There's something that's often overlooked when it comes to getting healthy and feeling better in our bodies.

We're so busy we forget to tune back into ourselves, and take time to reboot.

Our society praises the go-go-go mentality. Longer to-do lists, less sleep and more responsibility have become the standard and aspirational. But before you know it you’re burnt out, overwhelmed and struggling with a multitude of health issues. (Been there.)

To prevent yourself from getting the place where you can’t drag yourself out of bed in the morning because you’re plagued with adrenal fatigue and so tired it HURTS… let’s backtrack.

What can you do?

One of the most powerful things you can work towards is saying, “no” more so you can ultimately say “HELL YES” to the things you really enjoy OR to taking time just for you.

It’s all about creating balance and giving yourself a break. Allowing yourself to slow down and accepting you deserve it. You might be saying- yeah right, that sounds nice but there’s no time in the day! I get it.

So first let’s look at where this is this coming from for you?

Often the idea of taking more time for yourself can bring up guilt- which is tricky one. As someone who has been weighed down by guilt throughout my life, I can say with full confidence letting go of those damaging emotions will set you free.

Making that mindset shift can often be enough to start seeing action.

But how do you start this?

By realizing you are in control of your own life!

While we don’t always have the ability to say no- yep we do have to work, take care of our families and pay bills after all… I urge you to take a look at the things you feel you just simply “should” do and see where you can work in that powerful, “no thanks!”

And the key here- is to not feel guilty for that no.

There's no need to feel guilty because more time for YOU will not only help you to restore and rejuvenate but it will improve your overall health. Which carries immense value. And not only should others around us want that for us and be supportive, but we should do!

Getting healthy, balanced and reaching our goals cannot be done without tuning into ourselves.

Become your own bestie! What do you really want!? Have you ever really sat down and thought about that?

YOU time can be simple. It can be quick. It can be relaxing, fun or quiet. It’s up to YOU! That’s the beauty.

Get it in when you can- and start workin' that “no thanks!” muscle!

Here are several examples that will hopefully inspire you:

  • Taking a walk while listening to an awesome podcast
  • Applying your favorite essential oils to the back of your neck and bottom of your feet before bed time (I love lavender and bergamot)
  • Flipping through a beautiful cookbook and turning down pages of the recipes you want to try
  • Calling your best friend to catch up with a delicious warm tea in hand
  • 10 deep breaths in and out
  • Turning off your social media for 24hrs.
  • Pillow talk with your partner
  • Getting up from your desk and stretching for 5 minutes
  • Making a healthy breakfast in the morning instead of rushing out the door
  • Reading your favorite blog
  • Playing a game with your kids
