Paleo Butternut Squash Mash

Paleo Butternut Squash Mash 

dairy-free, gluten-free, paleo, vegan 

Makes 2 side dish servings


  • 1 medium sized butternut squash (or 1 bag pre-cut butternut squash)
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon 
  • sea salt to taste


  • With a sharp peeler, peel the skin off of the squash until the bright orange flesh appears, OR cut squash in half horizontally and use a knife to carefully cut the skin off
  • Cut in half vertically and spoon out seeds
  • Cut the flesh into roughly 2 inch by 2 inch pieces (does not have to be perfect)
  • Steam your squash by preferred method until it is soft enough to break through when tested with a fork
  • Transfer the squash to a large bowl and begin to mash it with a fork until smooth but with some chunks left intact 
  • Stir in coconut oil, cinnamon, and sea salt and roughly mix together
  • Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy!
